This mixed methods study explores underperforming Latino high school students’ comfort levels with using computers for completing schoolwork, and with allowing teachers into their online social interaction spaces.

underperforming Latino students with using CMC

to interact with school personnel and classmates?










  • Research Question #2: Does gender influence high school students’ perceived comfort levels with using CMC in educational settings?





















  • Qualitative date indicated:

    • peer influences were a dominant factor in these students’ histories of academic struggles.

    • that students were uncomfortable mixing personal life with school work.
